MANAGING DIRECTORMark O’Halloran
Mark, a graduate of the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG), began his career as a Construction/Site Engineer in London, gaining experience across the UK, Ireland, and Australia before transitioning into design consultancy and the rail industry in 2008. It was within this sector that he achieved chartered status. Over the years, Mark advanced from delivering technical designs for temporary and permanent works to excelling in multi-disciplinary design management, developing a strong grasp of processes and procedures.
Having worked with both SMEs and one of the UK’s largest consultancies, he acquired invaluable leadership, strategic, communication, and business management skills. As Managing Director, Mark leverages his expertise and decisive approach to deliver exceptional service and flexibility to clients, fostering collaborative relationships to achieve shared goals.
As co-owner of AJMS Consultants, his business acumen, technical proficiency, and client-focused approach position him perfectly to lead the company toward continued growth and success.
DIRECTORAustin Byrne
Having graduated from the School of Civil Engineering at The University of Birmingham, Austin began his career in the field of traffic engineering, taking on roles with both a major consultant and on the client side with Transport for London. Following a switch into the rail sector in 2007, he soon gained chartered status through the Institution of Civil Engineers. With over 20 years in the industry, he has the capability to undertake and manage a wide range of civil design schemes. Austin is keen to ensure that our clients receive an individual and tailored service based on the wealth of knowledge and customer focus that can be offered by AJMS Consultants. His attention to detail and keen focus on financial affairs in past positions is one additional reason for his directorship and co-ownership of AJMS Consultants.
DIRECTORJohn Jeffers
John, a graduate in Civil and Structural Engineering, brings a deep passion for the discipline. Specialising in structural engineering, he achieved Chartered Engineer status and has led large delivery teams as an Associate with one of the UK’s leading consulting firms. With over 20 years of rail experience spanning both consultancy and contracting roles, John is proud to be part of the AJMS Consultants team.
Known for his friendly, respectful, and professional approach, John is ideally positioned to strengthen client delivery teams and represent the company at the highest level. His appointment as Director and co-owner reflects his outstanding achievements, strong work ethic, and technical expertise.
DIRECTORSimon Ward
Simon graduated from The University of Manchester in 1997 and began his career as a graduate engineer in the power generation and electrical distribution sectors. After eight years of steady progression, he transitioned into the rail industry, focusing on the design of line-side infrastructure, level crossings, and ‘Access for All’ DDA schemes. His approachable nature and proactive attitude helped him achieve Chartered Engineer status and take on leadership of a dedicated design team.
With over 20 years of experience in the rail sector, Simon has an in-depth understanding of the industry’s design standards and requirements. He has played a key role in successfully delivering numerous projects, including major signalling renewal schemes. His technical expertise, extensive experience, and wealth of knowledge make him ideally positioned to serve as Director and co-owner of AJMS Consultants
