Apprentice CAD Technician

About AJMS Consultants:

AJMS is a privately-owned business with a proven track record in the rail sector.  We are proud of the service that we offer, and the team we have built to provide this.  We have grown consistently over recent years and need to continue to expand to service our client’s requirements in the future.

Our core values are simple, we put our clients first and use collaboration combined with our experience, knowledge, and professionalism to provide a first class service in an enjoyable, fast paced, working environment.

Whilst working with us you would be involved with exciting infrastructure projects, including signalling schemes, electrification renewals, station works and level crossing upgrades.  We also undertake temporary works designs to facilitate construction activities for our clients.

We are looking for an ambitious Apprentice CAD Technician who is looking to start their career and would like to become a valued member of our dynamic team.

About the role:

Reporting to a mentor and line Manager, the Apprentice will have responsibility for the delivery of the design under full supervision of qualified professionals.  The apprentice is expected to complete their apprenticeship course and studies in line with the curriculum.  AJMS will support that curriculum, as necessary, both financially and with training across all activities, not just those within the college’s curriculum.

AJMS will provide on the job training and structured training courses for items such as health and safety, project delivery, environmental and quality requirements of the business and industry.

We will train the individual in preparation of detailed 2D/3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) drawings.  Our company aligns all its engineering staff to the ICE’s Development Action Plans and Continual Professional Development guidelines.

The role may also require you to undertake some site survey works, for which AJMS will provide appropriate training.

You will undertake the Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship at Leeds College of Building, attending campus in person one day a week during term time.

You must be able to demonstrate good time management, strong communication and organisational skills as well as the ability to work on your own initiative.
